Only if you act like an idiot (riding on the sidewalk at 25 km/h, running red lights, etc.). But you'd also get a fine for that on a regular bike. The bike itself is 100% legal.
You can pedal faster yourself (the bike doesn't limit you). But the motor assists up to 25 km/h. If you want illegal speed, check out our Off-Road section (private use only).
